Jon Chalcraft brings over 23 years of experience to his role as a Prosthetic Technician at TLCU. He began his career working in his family’s prosthetic manufacturing business in Western Australia. From early on, he developed a strong commitment to producing high-quality prosthetic devices. This personal connection continues to motivate him to support people with limb differences and limb loss.
At TLCU, Jon is responsible for the full manufacturing process of prosthetic and orthotic devices. He shares duties across design, construction, and finishing. He ensures each product is tailored to meet the needs of both the clinicians and the clients. Thanks to his deep understanding of materials and mechanics, he creates devices that are both durable and comfortable.
Over the years, Jon has seen the industry transform. In the past, wooden legs and simple rubber feet were standard. Now, he works with advanced tools and materials, including:
Carbon fibre feet for better energy return
Microprocessor knees and arms that enhance movement
Custom suspension systems like vacuum fittings and clutch locks
A wide range of socket liners and fit solutions
These modern technologies allow Jon to offer improved mobility and comfort to each client.
Jon doesn’t just follow trends—he stays actively engaged with new innovations. He continues to learn and update his skills so he can offer the best options available. His experience helps him choose the right solution for every client, whether they need a basic limb or a more complex prosthesis.
Importantly, he understands the challenges clients face. He sees each project as an opportunity to help someone walk more freely, move with ease, or gain back independence. His hands-on experience ensures each device is built to perform well in daily life.
What makes Jon’s work stand out is his strong belief in equality. He’s always looking for ways to level the playing field for people living with physical differences. His focus is not just on function but also on confidence and lifestyle.
Through his role at TLCU, Jon continues to support the local community with reliable and thoughtful prosthetic solutions. His dedication to quality, innovation, and care helps clients move forward—one step at a time.
