Dr Mark Meyer – Maxillo-Facial Surgeon – Brackenfell practices at Mediclinic Cape Gate, where he leads a private facial and oral surgery clinic. He earned his BChD from the University of Stellenbosch in 2001 and completed a Dip Odont at the University of Pretoria in 2002 . Moreover, he achieved FC MFOS (SA) fellowship status in 2015 .
During his formative years, Dr Meyer undertook comprehensive training at Groote Schuur Hospital, rotating through Intensive Care, Trauma Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, ENT, Neurosurgery, and Ophthalmology . Consequently, he gained a multidisciplinary perspective that informs his reconstructive strategies. Furthermore, he earned the prestigious AOCMF fellowship, training in Austria in TMJ surgery, and completed a mini-residency in arthroscopic TMJ techniques under world-renowned surgeons. Thus, he currently serves as Consultant TMJ Surgeon at Groote Schuur Hospital.
He continues to advance the specialty through academic leadership. For instance, Dr Meyer is pursuing a PhD in Genetics of TMJ Disorders, which aims to pioneer precision-medicine approaches.
