Marcus Adrian Green Orthopaedic Surgeon Birmingham – Clinical Practice

Mr. Green performs approximately 250 joint replacements each year, with a balanced mix of shoulder and knee surgeries. His operative portfolio includes both keyhole (arthroscopic) and open surgeries. He has expertise in rotator cuff repairs, shoulder stabilisation, and ligament reconstructions.

In the knee, he routinely carries out ligamentous reconstructions, meniscal repairs, and both partial and total knee replacements. Many procedures use advanced techniques, including robotic assistance, for precision and faster recovery.

Founding Birmingham Knee and Shoulder Clinic

In 2004, Mr. Green co-founded the Birmingham Knee and Shoulder Clinic at The Priory Hospital with colleagues Duncan Learmonth and Samir Massoud. This clinic focuses solely on treating shoulder and knee disorders, giving patients targeted care with outstanding outcomes.

A Passion Beyond Medicine

Mr. Green’s passions extend beyond the operating theatre. While he is a keen runner, his true sporting love is hot air ballooning. He competes at the national and international levels, representing Great Britain in world-class events. He has secured second place in the UK national championships twice in recent years. With over 30 years of experience as a licensed pilot, he has flown across the world and in extreme conditions such as the Alps.

He also serves as the medical representative for lighter-than-air aviation with the CAA, advising balloon pilots on medical fitness. Additionally, he dedicates time to conservation by restoring a 50-acre ancient bluebell woodland using native saplings.

Clinical Specialties and Techniques

His shoulder procedures include rotator cuff repair, biceps tenodesis, stabilisation, and full shoulder replacements including reversed arthroplasty. In knee surgery, he performs ligament reconstructions, meniscal repairs, and cartilage restoration techniques.

Marcus Adrian Green Orthopaedic Surgeon Birmingham continues to innovate, offering robotic-assisted surgeries for improved accuracy and patient outcomes.
