Description

Matthew Fieldsend – Sports Podiatry with Real-World Insight

About

Matthew Fieldsend brings a unique blend of clinical expertise and first-hand athletic experience to his work as a podiatrist. Having competed at high levels of football—including state and VFL level—he spent the latter part of his playing career with De La Salle Old Collegians, where he also served as team captain for several seasons. These leadership roles reflect his dedication and strategic mindset, qualities he now applies to patient care.

His own sporting journey wasn’t without challenges. Matthew experienced several lower limb injuries and underwent multiple surgeries, each of which shaped his deep understanding of recovery and rehabilitation. These personal experiences ignited his passion for helping others through similar struggles, particularly with return-to-run programming and injury prevention strategies.

After completing a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Anatomy and Physiology at Monash University, Matthew pursued further study at La Trobe University. There, he completed both a Bachelor of Health Science and a Master of Podiatric Practice. These academic qualifications, combined with his lived experience in sport, make him a highly effective and empathetic practitioner.
