Mick Herbert Psychodynamic Psychotherapist London is a name that represents clinical excellence, warmth, and professionalism. I am a fully-qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice from WPF Therapy in London. This five-year training is one of the most respected and rigorous in the UK. WPF’s clinical and academic standards are widely recognized as exemplary.
I am registered with the BACP, UKCP, and FPC—three leading professional psychotherapy bodies. These registrations reflect my deep commitment to ethical clinical practice. I always adhere to the highest professional standards. To ensure quality and safety in our work together, I also hold full clinical insurance and engage in regular clinical Supervision. This means there are always two minds reflecting on the material you bring.
Before private practice, I served as a specialist psychotherapist at the addiction unit of the Nightingale Hospital in Marylebone. It’s London’s top private mental health hospital. I bring nearly 30 years of experience in substance abuse and addiction recovery, both within and outside the 12-step Fellowship approach.
Many clients navigating sobriety find our work together supportive and empowering. Over the years, I have developed a unique, non-judgemental approach to addiction that blends clinical expertise with deep empathy.
My practice is based in SW1, where private gardens provide a quiet, contemplative environment. Clients often say this calm space enhances the therapeutic process. The consulting room is quiet and well-ventilated—important for physical comfort and mental ease, especially given ongoing health concerns.
Sessions are 50 minutes and held weekly, on the same day and time. We can meet in person or online, depending on your needs.
The therapy style I offer is relational, warm, and collaborative. You’ll find our sessions conversational and safe. This environment helps you speak openly and honestly. It’s a place where even deeply buried concerns can begin to surface.
Clients come to me with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and challenges in parenting. Loss and bereavement are also core areas of my work. Whatever you’re facing, we explore it together.
Before becoming a therapist, I ran a derivatives trading team. I understand the pressures of high-performance environments and how they affect emotional well-being. I also work with creatives and artists who seek to explore complex feelings in innovative ways.
Being a father of two young children, I welcome parenting challenges in therapy. For many, family becomes a source of healing. Together, we explore how you might deepen these vital connections.
This is a space free of judgment. Our work involves thinking together, exploring the emotions behind your experiences. Through greater understanding, you’ll be able to identify what you truly want and how to get there. Our relationship becomes a mirror to help you reclaim trust—in others and in yourself.
