About 

Dr Willie Ritz has practised as a specialist periodontist since 2005. He qualified as a general dentist in 1996 at the University of Pretoria. After gaining experience in the South African National Defence Force and Portsmouth, England, Dr Ritz returned to South Africa in 2000 to specialise in Periodontics and Oral Medicine. He obtained his MChD degree with distinction in 2004 and earned the title of Best Post-Graduate Dental Student that year.

Dr Ritz is renowned for his expertise in partial extraction therapy and socket shield implant treatment, with a strong focus on minimally invasive techniques to save teeth. He is also a member of the Enamel Group, where he collaborates with world-class clinicians to share knowledge and continue developing his skills.

Dr Ritz provides the following periodontal services:

• Partial Extraction Therapy: Minimising postoperative resorption of the alveolar bone for better outcomes.

Additional Information

Dr Ritz’s research has earned him the prestigious Colgate Award for his study on tetracycline root detoxification and its effect on periodontal ligament fibroblast attachment. He presented his findings at the IADR World Congress in Baltimore, USA.

Outside of his professional life, Dr Ritz enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also loves scuba diving and takes every opportunity to explore the underwater world. His drive for continual professional growth and commitment to patient care make him a trusted periodontist.
